The Moat brings beautiful food and wine, and relaxed service to the great books, writing and ideas flourishing in the Wheeler Centre and State Library above.
Tucked beneath Melbourne’s iconic State Library, The Moat is an intimate escape away from the city rush. Styled by Christo Gillard, with us you can enjoy worldly food and wine among 19th century bluestone walls, our homely courtyard, and the timeless literature housed above.
We have a range of flexible spaces for private functions, from banquet meals to canape and cocktail. We often host our own event nights, celebrating creativity with gorgeous wine, cocktails, and dining experiences.
We also play host for events programmed by the Wheeler Centre and its resident organisations, as well as the State Library, and many of Melbourne’s festivals and events. Check out our website and sign up to our mailing list for all the details.
