Midnight Special is a traditional blues song made famous by Lead Belly in 1934. It’s about a train whose light is seen as salvation by prisoners watching it pass by night after night, out of reach. There was a superstition developed among the prisoners that if you were in the light of that train you would gain freedom, and be blessed with good fortune.

West Oak Hotel Established in 1838, The Royal Oak was once at the heart of Adelaides west end. It has lived through more than 175 years and several incarnations to survive as one of the citys oldest continual licensed venues. Even today, if you look closely under the verandah, you can find a mark from the original telegraph poles in this photo.
