Ponyfish Island

About Ponyfish Island

Ponyfish Island can be found floating under the Pedestrian Bridge, Southbank and is only accessible from stairs descending from above. With thoughtful bites to discover and drinks to savour, Ponyfish Island will become a destination for those who are hungry for something new.

Adorned with specimens and diagrams of exotic flora and fauna – both real and imagined – the venue is a tribute to explorers and discoverers of all kinds.

The serendipitous discovery of this unique atoll created the perfect opportunity for three intrepid explorers to form a rag-tag crew. Colonised by Grant Smillie, Jerome Borazio and Andrew Mackinnon, they knew they had finally found the project that they had been searching for.

The island takes its name from the elusive Ponyfish, a mysterious creature apparently seen swimming in the Yarra River. Much debate has been roused as to whether the Ponyfish actually exists or if the creature is simply a fabrication created by those who wish to believe.

The Oldest Pubs In Adelaide

Adelaide, commonly known as the city of churches, hides another rich historical facet – it’s a city teeming with classic bars and pubs. Strolling through Adelaide, you’re likely to be captivated by its historic houses and striking churches. However, it’s the pubs that often steal the show. These establishments, some of the most majestic and historic in Australia, don’t always get the recognition they deserve. For instance, consider the Newmarket Hotel, a stunning three-story pub from 1883, which, though facing demolition, remains a significant piece of Adelaide’s history.

Another hidden gem is the Beresford Arms Inn on Gilles St. Though no longer operational, its magnificence is undeniable.
