After spending 25 years in the music industry as one of the founding members of Australias biggest rock act, Powderfinger bassist John Collins (JC) wanted to give something back to his native Brisbane.
Having toured the nation and the globe innumerable times, JC knows what makes a good venue €“ visually spectacular, quality programming and a fantastic team of staff.
During this globe-trotting the seed was planted for bringing a venue of this quality to Brisbane, and Triffid began to sprout. Triffids ethos is focused firmly on bringing the best of international, national and local acts to Brisbanes backyard in Newstead.
Situated on the urban fringe walking distance to James Street and the Valley, Triffid is an old commercial hangar that merges its industrial identity with state of the art sound techniques. The outdoor pop-up beer garden with food and drinks served up from shipping containers promises to create a space for locals to call their own.
Whilst initially concentrating on an amazing music roster, Triffid will expand to incorporate all elements of the arts€”from film festivals to art shows. Triffid is also available for private function hire.
After opening its doors with a massive launch party on 8 November 2014, The Triffid will now grow to implant itself firmly in the iconic musical landscape of Brisbane, and the nation.
