Looking for some tips to take great photos in bars and nightclubs? Find here the right tips – take note of them, they’re free!
Taking good pics in bars or nightclubs is a hard task for bar owners and patrons alike.
Why? Mostly because bars and nightclubs are usually not well-lit places – which aren’t the friendliest for low-quality cameras.
Phones and even the wrong cameras can struggle to achieve good results in places with bad lighting.
Additionally, there are other factors to take into account, like whether you’re moving or not, the movement of the crowd, what kind of picture you’re taking, and more.
In this short guide, we’ll show you, the concerned bar owner, how to take amazing photos in bars or nightclubs.
You don’t really need to be a pro take good pics – although we can’t say the same of the camera you’ll use.
The better the camera, the better the pictures will be.
Let’s get started!
As we said in our post about the best cameras for bar owners, the Sony A7 III is definitely the best option you have.
It takes amazing photos in low-light that require little to no editing at all.
It’s a pro camera, so it’s also a pricey one.
The good thing is that you don’t really need to be a pro to take amazing photos with it – does almost everything for you!
Professional photographers will tell you that you can’t take
proper pictures without them.
But that’s not always the truth if you have the right equipment!
The right equipment would be a camera that offers great
performance in poorly lit environments.
We always recommend the Sony A7 III (the best!) or the Sony A6400 (a mid-priced option).
If you want to take great photos, you’ll need some
lighting equipment, unless your bar is well lit – which is, in our experience, not usually the case.
Additionally, we’d recommend you to get a reliable tripod stand to
take steady pictures as well.
You don’t actually know how helpful a stand is until you get
one!
And finally, you definitely need a good camera strap to take
your camera while you’re walking around your bar looking to capture the moment!
You can always add more into this formula, like a few extra
lenses that offer you better zoom and close-up pic quality.
That’s especially the case if you’re looking to promote the
food or cocktails of your bar – a good photo will get the job done!
When you’re trying to get some great-quality photos in bars and nightclubs, you must always factor good lighting into the equation.
To set up for good lighting, you must always check from different spots to shoot.
A good rule of thumb is to take your camera and take photos of the same target from different angles to know just how well-lit each spot is.
Once you’ve done this, you can set up the camera in your tripod mount and take the photos you want.
Keep in mind that you can always seek the right spot, whether your bar is lit with natural light through windows, or poorly lit as most are.

One thing most people seem to forget to comment about is that efficiency and a standardized process to take the photos are always optimal.
Why? Because once you know from where the best angles are, you must be ready to take the pictures when the time is right.
To be prepared for this, we highly recommend that you:
All of those tips should get you up to speed when the time comes.
The best pictures require some planning, good lighting, and of course, the right equipment.
Never forget to play, because playing will get you far.
When we say playing, we mean that you must have fun taking photos.
Shoot the same cocktail 100 times and pick the best photo, walk around your bar taking photos of your patrons, and don’t be afraid to experiment.
After all, they’re just photos, and you can always try again.
This is vital to know what works and what doesn’t work.
After a while, you’ll become just as experienced as a pro photographer, and even better if you have the will to do it.
