Meet Keri Algar, the Owner and Distiller of Soltera Rum. Soltera Rum is Australia’s only solo female-led rum distillery. The award-winning rums celebrate the cheerful spirit and enjoying the little things in life. Each small batch is handcrafted using locally and sustainably sourced molasses and is entirely free from additives. If you need another reason to get excited about Soltera, you would love to know that a percentage of sales go to charity, making Soltera Rum also socially responsible.
The journey
Keri’s journey to becoming a rum distiller started with a dream of ending up on a tropical island, sipping rum at a beachside bar with her feet in the sand. After years of working as a dive instructor and communications specialist, Keri realized that Cabarita Beach, where she lives, is surrounded by sugar cane (the main ingredient in rum). Making her rum with local sugar cane sounds like a great idea, so why not give it a go?

What sets Soltera Rum apart from big-label rums is its unique taste. Keri believes that rum is fun, and that’s the energy that goes into every bottle of Soltera Rum. Made from scratch using molasses and a copper pot still, Soltera Rum is underaged, full of flavor, and unashamedly bold.
