Scotch whisky, the serious man’s drink.

You want to make a good impression at a bar. What’s the first thing you do? Order some Scotch whisky neat!

Scotch whisky is the definition of a serious man drink. Were pretty sure you shouldn’t just drink scotch to look like a “real man”. Mainly because it’s commonly seen as an acquired taste. And we don’t think you want to ask for scotch on ice; no one should!

Scotch is a really complex spirit, delicious, and very aromatic. There are five main variants; single grain scotch, single malt scotch, blended grain scotch, blended malt scotch and blended Scotch whisky. Every one of these has a different production process, including different ingredients.

Each one has a distinctive flavor, it’s up to you to decide which one you like the best. You can find rules for drinking scotch all over the web. Because of its strength, it has to be drunk slowly, sipping from the glass to really appreciate its flavor. You can only appreciate its complexity by drinking it neat, because ice or other additions may halve its flavor.Do you really want to look cool? Do some research!

History, a good friend of Scotch whisky.

Scotch whisky goes as back as the 14th century.  There’s data that references scotch in this time. It references that the King James IV bought barley to produce acquavitae, one of the most basic forms of alcoholic drinks. So, it’s presumed it has been made since the 14th century. The whisky was first taxed by the ScottishParliament in 1644. Ever since, there has been a lot of changes in the way whisky is produced in Scotland. Also, it was strongly regulated in the past.

There has been some controversy with the word “whisky”, as other countries use “whiskey” or other variations. So, were talking about a really classic alcoholic drink.

Its values of alcohol often reach a max of 46%, but there are variations that reach much more. These are labeled with the words “cask strength”, which is the alcohol content of whisky straight out of the cask.
