    Black Bear Lodge

‘Do you know what the best thing about beer is? Drinking it!’
Introducing one of the most loveable humans on the planet: Robbie Puhalo. Serving (drinking) behind the stick at Black Bear for 2.5 years, Robbie is a seasoned professional when it comes to whipping out early dance moves, seducing middle aged men and women with his extensive knowledge on English tea blends, and pulling 50000 pints in a shift. Despite his uncanny tolerance for booze, Robbie encompasses so much of the black bear identity. He appreciates all genres of music (and booze), doesn’t take himself too seriously, makes a mean negroni and brings a warm smile to all walks of life who ascend the lodge stairs. The most accurate way someone’s described Robbie is ‘like visiting your grandma’s - being welcomed with long, warm cuddles and a rosemary scented roast... paired with a pint... or 12.’
He’ll graduate to be a neuroscientist in the not too distant future - but until that day you’ll find his welcoming hospitality here at the lodge. Love ya Robbie! #drinkteagetrad

The stupidity of door security staff @ venues... a memoir...
Last night we went to blackbearlodge to see our gorgeous jade Imagine on tour. We were looking after merch. The sound guys were twats. Couldn't hear a thing. I went outside to get some air and pete came out to see If I was ok. We had been at the venue for about 4 hours. Suddenly the security decided not to let Pete back in. He didn't have his license on him. The guy knew we were family and doing merch. He said it was up to him and he said no. Pete asked him why and he said because it was 10 o'clock. When asked about all the people who were in the venue before 10 o'clock he couldn't answer. So Pete asked the police and they said it was at security guys discretion. So we spent half the gig outside. I can see why people lose they're shit at dumb ass wanker security personnel who's brains are the size of a pea. Shame on you Black Bear Lodge. We won't be back.

Hi Bernadette, thanks for your feedback. Since the scanning laws have been introduced, patrons are not allowed entry into a licensed venue after 10pm without an acceptable form of ID (regardless of age and regardless of whether they’ve had previous entry). Unfortunately the security guard was obliged to follow the strict laws that have been placed on QLD venues at the risk of losing the venue’s license. I’m sorry you experienced this first hand, and can only hope you return one day under more pleasant circumstances. Warmth, Aidan.
