Our favorite distilleries
Adelaide and South Australia, in general, are well known for world-class wine regions, spirits and food. In recent years, Australians seem to have changed their ways, and spirits are getting more and more popular. Adelaide has so many great distilleries and tasting rooms. It was hard to pick our favorites because we love any company trying to create a unique spirit and experience. So, we ended up choosing the ones who offer a great tasting room experience mixed with quality drinks.
1. Mad Monkey Distillery
Mad Monkey is Adelaide’s first dedicated rum distillery. Spirits are made with natural ingredients focusing on sustainability and the environment. We love Mad Monkeys’ tasting room. It’s cozy, outdoors, and feels like home. It’s a great place to be on a Sunday afternoon.
2. Prohibition
Prohibition is probably one of the best-known distilleries around Adelaide. Located in the heart of Adelaide, it offers gin masterclasses, tastings, and a real distillery experience. From Wednesday-Sunday pop in to see a copper pot still “Mary” making gin. The tasting room itself makes you feel like you have stepped back in time. It’s a great place to visit for tourists and locals.
3. Ambra Spirits
Ambra Spirits uses a 100% authentic Italian family recipe that has been handed down for generations. Ambra offers a wide range of liqueurs like almond, blood orange, cappucino, citrus, limoncello, gin and so much more. All products are made on premises from Australian products. The cellar door itself is fun, colorful, and open. Their cocktail list is huge and makes a great spot for any event.
4.Imperial Measures Distilling
Imperial Measures Distilling creates world-class products using high-quality ingredients. Enjoy tastings, great cocktails, food, and knowledgeable staff. It’s a great place to learn more about gin or visit for a cocktail.
Hard to choose
We know that there are plenty more great distilleries around Adelaide, but we just had to pick 4. But we have lots more to come, in 2022 there are lost of hidden distilleries that are opening so keep an eye out. Please let us know which ones have you visited, and would absolutely recommend?
