Fresh Salt is a neighborhood bar and cafe located at 146 Beekman Street, between Front and South, near the old Fulton Fish Market. The name comes from the faded advertisement on the front of the 1885 smokehouse we inhabit: Fresh, Salt, and Smoked Fish€.

Since 2004, the bar has served as a refuge for an array of locals: from writers and start-ups on laptops, and office folks grabbing a tasty lunch by day,  to musicians, artists, locals and even the occasional sailor or two by night. We are proud to have been the last Seaport bar the Fulton Fish Market workers called home. With the areas recent revitalization, the bar now feels old-school, an homage to the neighborhoods history.

Fresh Salt was nearly destroyed in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Thanks to the amazing generosity and crowd sourcing of our friends, family and regulars, Fresh Salt was able to rebuild. The integrity and feel of the interior was maintained and even improved in some ways. Most people cant pick out whats different! We are proud to be a part of this close-knit community within the oldest neighborhood in New York. Fresh Salt is New York Citys local.

Vienna Noir – Early 20th Century Vienna themed bar – Art Noveau muddled drinks with light flair; the venue’s name recalls the 1949 film noir set in Vienna and directed by Carol Reed and starring Orson Welles – 116 Avenue C between 7 & 8

Guests will be transported to early 2oth-century Europe in the rustic yet elegant space, recalling the 1949 film noir of the same name set in Vienna, starring Orson Welles. The cocktail program emphasizes a modern take on classics like The Last Word and Old-Fashioned, utilizing chef-driven technique and cross-pollination from Edi & the Wolf such as house-smoked ingredients, pickling juices, and house-made cordials.

Libations will include the Chesterfield with gin, fresh ginger juice, fresh lime juice, house-made grenadine and tonic water; the Harry Lime with mezcal, chartreuse, maraschino, and fresh lime topped with sparkling wine; and the Triest with myrtle berry liqueur, fernet and five-spice mulled cider. The chefs will offer a selection of cheese, house-cured charcuterie and bites like their signature Pumpkinseed Ricotta with pickled butternut squash and walnut bread; Pork Crackling with apple and pickled red onion; and Chicken Liver Terrine with brioche, glazed apples and frisee.

Designed by Philip Haemmerle and Justine Parsons, the space features emerald green leather banquettes, distressed mirrors and glass bar shelving along exposed brick walls, offering an elegant take on the communal feel at Edi & the Wolf, merely half a block from The Third Man. A front fa§ade made entirely of treated windows provides an airy feel, balanced by the wrought-iron buttresses salvaged from an old West Village church. Guests enter through a €œtunnel€ passageway lined with exposed wooden beams, opening into one of two seating areas and a full, wrap-around bar.
