The Lass O’Gowrie Hotel or The Lass as its affectionately known by its locals is the Newcastle Precincts oldest remaining pub.
On the 4th March 1992 Ian & Sharon Lobb opened the doors of the Lass O’Gowrie Hotel for the first time. Since then the Lass O’Gowrie Hotel has now become regarded as the cradle of Newcastle’s original music. As Ian says “We Discover, Encourage and Support local Musios and Artists to participate in Live Personal Performance”.
This hotel theme often comes under notice of Interstate and overseas artists who also like to contribute to the variety of music seen here at the Lass. It’s a Wickham Wonderland where people meet, greet and share a huge Beer Garden, Great Food and even better Beer. Being the oldest Pub in the Newcastle Precinct and boasting the fact that Henry Lawson stood at the Bar to recite his Poetry, we feel that a visit to the Lass would be very rewarding for everyone.
