The current owner is Bertie Richardson-Burton who bought the place on the last day of June 2014. Apart from a few coats of paint and some new tables, the Duke is still a proper pub, with beer, chat, pies, snacks and sports.
In September 2015, Bertie gained a wife and the pub a landlady, aka Victoria. We also have a Pub Cat who gets annoyed by the plastic seagulls hanging over the bar.
Despite the Pub Cat, we’re a very dog-friendly venue and well-behaved children are also welcome.
Our quiz master Joe hosts a pub quiz on the last Sunday of every month with music rounds and a rollover Snowball Fund. You can follow Joe on Twitter‚ @Joeash78‚ if you like ¢‚¬€œ he’ll be really pleased.
We’ve got a small but perfectly-formed beer garden with warm blankets for the smokers in the winter. Vaping is also tolerated indoors.
You can entertain yourselves with pool, darts and board games or if that’s not enough for you, we have free wifi as well. Our pool table is free to play before 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Last but not least, there’s a dazzling array of pies and comfort food on the menu. Come and treat yourself to one of our legendary Filthy Fish Finger Sandwiches, or warm up with pie, mash and gravy.
