Claimant details

A spacious, colourful and welcoming pub with a heated decked rear garden and roaring fires, The Sov, as it’s affectionately known, is part of Brighton’s history and a prime drinking spot for young and old alike; a healthy mix of tradition and progress.

You’ll be spoilt for choice with an incredible selection of craft beers from around the globe, a quality wine list and 6 real ale pumps; five from Sussex and one weekly guest ale from Craft breweries around the Country. Try a pint of the hugely popular Camden or a schooner of Chieftain IPA, sat around the island bar or on one of the huge wooden benches or a cosy corner table. This is what proper pubs feel like!

New Kitchen – Flank

Tom Griffiths new project, Flank, opened residency at the Royal Sovereign in Brighton in early September. His passion for locally sourced seasonal produce is beautifully displayed in each dish, whether it’s pie, mash and liquor, on offer daily, or the more intricate dishes available every evening. A Komodo bbq takes pride of place in the kitchen, fuelled by British wood and helping to smoke and cook meat from Dean Timpson, a local farmer who has a small holding nearby. Tom isn’t afraid to let vegetables take pride of place on his plates too, pickling and fermenting seasonal ingredients so they can last all year. A traditional pub roast is served every Sunday, along with pub snacks all week.

The Oldest Pubs In Adelaide

Adelaide, commonly known as the city of churches, hides another rich historical facet – it’s a city teeming with classic bars and pubs. Strolling through Adelaide, you’re likely to be captivated by its historic houses and striking churches. However, it’s the pubs that often steal the show. These establishments, some of the most majestic and historic in Australia, don’t always get the recognition they deserve. For instance, consider the Newmarket Hotel, a stunning three-story pub from 1883, which, though facing demolition, remains a significant piece of Adelaide’s history.

Another hidden gem is the Beresford Arms Inn on Gilles St. Though no longer operational, its magnificence is undeniable.
