Roman Kozyrski commenced building The Lighthouse Inn in 1972 designing the hotel to “show off the best of the West’s wood and stone” utilising 12,500 tonnes of natural material found in the surrounding districts.
Overlooking the Indian Ocean and township of Bunbury, the first stage opened in 1974, followed by the second stage in December 1977 .
Located next to Bunburys iconic Lighthouse, the hotel has always carried the Lighthouse name. The original Lighthouse was first built in approx 1840 and was situated 400 metres east of its present location. When moved to its present location in 1972 the original top half was retained and is still flashing out its warning to ships at sea today.
In 1993 Mr Kozyrski reinvested in the property spending more than a million dollars expanding and renovating the hotel to include a new foyer-atrium area, replacing the old driveway past reception, increasing the size of the Grand Ballroom and renovating Cellars Nightclub.
In 2003 The Lighthouse Beach Resort changed hands and so began a long standing partnership in the hotel for the current owners of the property.
2013 saw the commencement of a multi-million dollar refurbishment and the begining of a new era at the hotel. In 2015 the hotel became part of Choice Hotels Asia-Pac and renamed to the Quality Hotel Lighthouse.
