Monserrate Bar

The entertainment at the Monserrate Bar is just as good as any other you can find in Havana whether it is an ‘expensive bar' or not. Getting served however may be another matter. Once I finally got the waiters attention and was able to place an order, I was told that they did not have the national beer called Cristal – only Heineken.

Since I am allergic to that brand, I ask for a soda or a refresco. Sorry, none of that either, but he could get me a Coca Cola for $2.50 – but with cocktails normally going costing $4, I instead order a Mojito.

The waiter even said ‘this is an expensive bar'. I was would rather call it rude and over-priced.

Odd that they did not have the national beer since listed plainly listed on the menu is Cerveza National. Also, the beer tap knobs are Cristal as are the huge logos plastered all over the beer coolers.
