Description
Promoted by businessman Bonifacio Eslava, nephew of musician Hilarion Eslava, the original building consisted of a small room, with name Eslava Hall and capacity for a thousand spectators. It became very popular as a platform for the various facets of popular theater and premiered authors such as Gala , Lorca and Valle Inclán .
Local acquired by businessman Peter Trapp , disco night February 24, 1981 was inaugurated the day after the coup perpetrated in the Congress of Deputies . Soon he would become one of the venues of reference in Madrid. During the 1980s it was a place of concentration characters called Movida.
Joy Eslava has continued to host concerts, festivals and various social events, involving celebrities like Roger Moore , Pedro Almodóvar , Stevie Wonder or Julio Iglesias .
