Perfectly perched on the West Pentire Headland, overlooking the golden sands of Crantock Beach, near the popular surfing and family destination of Newquay. The Bowgie is the place where you can momentarily escape to a slower pace of life. The panoramic coastal views of the unspoiled beach of Crantock, Polly Joke, the Gannel and the dramatic headlands nearby, help to inspire and regenerate the soul. The‚ ¢‚¬ËœBowgie’‚ which is Cornish for‚ ¢‚¬Ëœcowshed’‚ is one of Cornwall’s most well-known and loved pubs, with parts of the Inn dating back to the 18th‚ Century. Low beamed ceilings, traditional features and character by the bucketload, help to make a visit to our pub unforgettable. As‚ a farm building up until the 1950s, the name of the main bar being The Pig Sty, and the Locals bar being called the Stable Bar. Andy Pickles has owned the pub for over 43‚ years‚ and back in the 1970s, he used to grow potatoes in the field on the cliff edge to make the pub chips! While The Bowgie’s incredible setting remains unchanged, everything else in our cosy Inn is 21st century comfort and quality with huge 70 inch HDTV screens, showing every sport you can think of. So whether you want to warm up next to the roaring fire with a coffee after a chilly walk, catch some rays on our sun terrace with a glass of wine, refuel with some traditional home-cooked food or let your hair down and enjoy live music ¢‚¬€œ you will always be guaranteed a friendly welcome from owners Andy and Sally Pickles. We have been so lucky to run The Bowgie for the last 43‚ years. Not only are we privileged to live and work in such a stunning location, but we love getting to know you. We have lots of loyal, local customers and visitors who come back year after year ¢‚¬€œ we get to see their families grow and love hearing stories about previous holidays and their fond memories of The Bowgie. Children are welcome‚ accompanied by adults in our designated family areas but sorry, no dogs are allowed inside.
